Zak Brown Discusses Decision to Attend IndyCar Race Over Dutch GP
Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, chose to attend the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington D.C. over the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend, citing the potential for greater impact on his racing teams and commercial opportunities.
During an interview, Brown expressed his desire to be present at both events but acknowledged the logistical challenges. He emphasized the unique nature of the IndyCar race and its significance, particularly with the presence of notable business leaders and the U.S. President. The Freedom 250 Grand Prix garnered significant viewership, becoming the most-watched non-Indy 500 race since 1995, averaging over 3.2 million viewers.
While Lando Norris secured pole and victory at the Dutch Grand Prix, Brown noted that his IndyCar team, represented by Christian Lundgaard, finished second in D.C. He praised the event's success and the attention it brought to the NTT IndyCar Series.
