Zee Entertainment Anticipates Revenue Growth from Sports in Q2 FY27
Zee Entertainment Enterprises is projecting a revenue increase in Q2 of FY27, driven by its sports properties, notably FIFA, and a growing subscriber base. The company's management highlighted that the impact of these sports properties will be most significant during the knockout stages of FIFA, which occur in this quarter.
Puneet Goenka, CEO of Zee Entertainment, noted that the company has seen a substantial rise in football viewership, claiming that it has reached 400 million viewers, a stark contrast to previous figures. He emphasized the importance of monetizing these sports properties sustainably and mentioned that other rights owners are approaching Zee for potential partnerships.
Additionally, Zee expects a notable increase in subscription revenue in Q2 compared to Q1, following a doubling of its subscriber base due to FIFA-related announcements. However, the company faces challenges in advertising revenue due to ongoing conflicts in West Asia, which have created market uncertainties. Despite this, Goenka expressed confidence in leveraging upcoming opportunities, particularly with the festive season approaching.
