
Zolani Tete, Two-Time Boxing Champion, Shot Dead in South Africa
Zolani Tete, a two-time world boxing champion, was shot dead outside his home in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa. The incident occurred on Friday when the 38-year-old was in his car waiting for the gate to open.
During the ambush, two armed suspects in balaclavas approached and fired multiple shots at Tete and a 27-year-old female passenger, who is currently hospitalized. Following the attack, the suspects fled the scene, prompting a major investigation.
Tete was a former WBO bantamweight and IBF super-flyweight champion, holding titles from 2014 to 2019. He was known for his record-setting knockout in 2017 and had been preparing for a comeback fight after serving a ban for a doping violation.
