Zxavian Harris Cleared to Sign with NFL Team
Defensive tackle Zxavian Harris has been declared eligible to sign with an NFL team following a reversal of the NFL's earlier decision regarding his status. This change comes after a brief legal dispute related to the NCAA's new eligibility rules.
Harris, along with other former Ole Miss players, sought to return to college football but faced challenges from the NCAA and various conferences that enacted rules against athletes who had signed professional contracts. While Harris's teammate Dae’Quan Wright remains ineligible, Harris's situation changed when the NFL Management Council determined he had not practiced at LSU, allowing him to be a free agent.
The 22-year-old Harris, who stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 330 pounds, was a three-year starter at Ole Miss and is noted for his special teams contributions, including blocking six kicks during his college career. He previously signed with the Saints but was placed on the non-football injury list and waived before he could practice with the team.
